American Interlock will send you an e-mail notification to you and your client anytime a violation is reported to the DAAD (Driver’s Assessment and Appeal Division) or Court. American Interlock is the only company which has the ability to provide this service we are the only ignition interlock provider with experienced criminal attorneys on staff and available at all times. If you have dealt with other ignition interlock providers you understand the need for this service. In the past, and with other companies, you, the attorney, is notified by your client that a violation had been reported. Now, you the attorney, will be aware of the violation, with the prior consent from your client, as soon as the violation is reported to the DAAD or Court. No longer will you be caught off-guard and unaware that a violation had been reported. Most important is that you will be able to speak with American Interlock, personally, about the violation, making you aware of why the violation was reported, possible defenses and what will happen as a result of the violation.
In addition, American Interlock authorizes every licensed attorney in the state to offer their client a $100 discount towards the cost of the entire program just by advising us that you are their attorney.
As you are aware, the use of ignition interlocks have been ordered by the DAAD, previously known as the DLAD, since 1999, when the repeat offender legislation took effect. Beginning in October, 2010, and pursuant to new legislation, ignition interlock use will increase as they will be ordered by the District or Circuit court for persons convicted of a drinking and driving offense, specifically for those convicted of their 1st offense, if their BAC was 0.17 or above.
